On Thursday 23rd of October, the Fundació Bosch i Gimpera organizes the 9th edition of the conference "Crea! Empresa" (Create company). This event has the objective of sharing the entrepreneurs experiences with motivated people in order to promote the creatin of companies. Teresa Tarragó will explain how and why she founded Iproteos and she will participate in the general discussion. The event will take place from 11.30 to 14 at the Economics faculty of the UB. Registration is free and the deadline is the 20th of Ocotober.

The 22nd of October Iproteos will participate in the "Cicle de trobades KET" (KET meetings). Teresa will give a brief speech at the Barcelona Science Park. In the strategy of the Horizon 2020, KET (Key Enable Technologies) are tools that play a principal role on the R+D and innovation, and are considered as crucials for the competitiveness of the European companies.

Next Friday, 10th of October, is the World Mental Health Day. From Iproteos we want to help people suffering from mental diseases, and we aim to find a cure for some of these conditions. Thus, in order to show support, we are participating in the social network campaign #queremosserfelices from FEAFES (Spanish confederation of agrupations of mental health patients and relatives).

The 2014 Expoquimia prize in the category of Biotechnology has been awarded to Iproteos for the research on "IPR19: a new drug for the treatment of the cognitive impairment associated  with schizophrenia". Teresa Tarragó and Ernest Giralt, founders of Iproteos, received the prize from Luís Serrano, FEIQUE and Expoquimia President. The award recognises the biotechnological research on an original product or technology, with proven efficiency and in advanced stage for marketing.

The crowdfunding campaign of Iproteos has already achieved more than 70,000 € and is getting closer and closer to the final objective of 100,000 €. Finally, it will finish the 10th of October, coinciding with the World Mental Health day.

The project linked to the campaign is devoted to the completion of the non-regulatory preclinical trials of a novel therapy for Schizophrenia, a devastating disease that affects around 24 million people in the world and is usually established around ages of 15 to 35 years, according to the World Health Organization.

Iproteos has raised more than 55,000€ through crowdfunding for the development of a new Schizophrenia treatment. It is the first time that the equity crowdfunding is used in a Spanish biotechnological project and results are, so far, very promising. Having overcome the halfway point of the campaign, Iproteos is determined to achieve the 100,000€ by the end of September.
